How independent hotels can use data to their advantage

There is lots of talk about “Big Data” thanks to very large companies like IBM who can collect all kinds of data and then use expensive tools to be able to spit it back at people and make it Big-data-for-independent-hotelsmeaningful. That’s great for large organizations, but what about independent hotel owners and managers who have to make lots of quick decisions every day? There’s no time nor money to use a big data solution like IBM to answer questions like:

  1. What is my occupancy rate this week versus this time last month or last year?
  2. What is my ADR this month? Is it higher or lower than last month?
  3. How much revenue can you expect based on current reservations for the next month, 6 months, 1 year?

A smart independent hotel owner or manager would make sure that their Hotel Management System could get them that information quickly so important decisions could be made quickly.
