The Early American Motel, located in Hardin, Kentucky is situated in a picturesque environment that attracts people from all over the world. Guests of the property can visit the lands between the lakes national park or choose to visit the Kentucky or Barkley Lakes, which are all conveniently located within a short drive of the motel. Shawn Knisley, owner of the Early American, was inspired to open a motel in the area based on his own love and experience. “Everyone who comes here is on vacation, so they are usually in a good mood,” said Knisley. “It’s always great to meet new people and hear their stories.”
That said, owning and operating a 15 room motel isn’t easy with just three people on staff. “Every day is a full day,” explained Knisley. “I can’t think of a day that I haven’t worked a full 12 hours.” While Knisley had been using a property management software to help with operations, it wasn’t providing him with sufficient help.
Ready For a Change:
The time required to manually enter connections made from OTAs and the lack of support from the software provider created an un-fixable situation. “The software company didn’t really have a good way to do everything,” explained Knisley. “I knew I had to make a change when their product would no longer work for us.”
Knisley found innRoad, which offered him the non-negotiable features he needed his next PMS. Knisley knew he had made the right choice thanks to the care and support innRoad offered him from the start. “I really liked that there was one person assigned to my account in the beginning,” said Knisley. “I could call her whenever I had questions, and she would check in on me and then she would take care of any problems.” Although Knisley is on his way to becoming a seasoned expert on the software, he still appreciates innRoad’s promise of 24/7 support. “Our business is 24 hours a day, so I’m glad we are able to call someone at any time we need,” said Knisley.
Knisley also utilizes innRoad’s cloud-capabilities to stay on top of reservations even when he is not in the office. “I could pull innRoad up on my phone, check availability and put the reservation in right from my phone wherever I may be,” he said. Being able to see his inventory live, has helped the Early American Motel stay organized and keep track of rooms and reservations without having to add an additional team member.
The Early American Motel quickly realized the value innRoad offers to their business. “If there is one piece of software that I must have, it would be innRoad,” noted Knisley. “Everything else I could do without, but I can’t do anything without innRoad from payment to reservation, it would be really hard to do business without having it.”
