Here’s how to get the most out of HX: The Hotel Experience – Rooms to Restaurants 2016

From November 13-15, some of the most innovative minds in hospitality will gather at HX: The Hotel Experience – Rooms to Restaurants 2016 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.  Our innRoad team will be in attendance, so swing by booth #2830 to say hello.  It’s sure to be a busy and exciting event, so here are a few helpful tips to help you get the most out of your conference experience:

Craft a game plan

We attend lots of conferences and tradeshows, so we know that navigating crowds, speaking to vendors and just finding a quiet place to make a phone call can be overwhelming at times.  The best way to maximize your time and enjoy HX is to put together a game plan to keep you organized.  Think about the goals you want to accomplish at HX and then work backwards from there.

For example, if you’re attending to make purchasing decisions for your independent hotel, create a detailed list of needs, such as hotel management software, bedding, food & beverage supplies, etc., research the exhibitors to see if their products align with your needs and then map the most efficient path for visiting their booths.  Crafting a game plan before you arrive at HX will save you lots of time and allow you to get more done during the event.

Listen, learn and share

One of the great benefits of attending events like HX are the opportunities to share ideas with your hospitality industry colleagues.  Each day offers a great schedule of events where you can listen and learn about trends and developments impacting the industry.  Additionally, HX provides countless networking opportunities that are perfect for building new relationships that can help you achieve your short- and long-term goals for your independent hotel.

Get out of your comfort zone

It’s natural for independent hoteliers to gravitate towards each other at events.  However, HX attracts people from every part of the hospitality industry, so it’s a great opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and meet professionals that you don’t cross paths with every day, such as chain hotel executives, marketing consultants, revenue managers, restaurateurs, etc.  Sometimes our best ideas come from the most unexpected places.  Good luck and have fun at HX!
